A year and a half ago at a birthday party in Denma

A year and a half ago at a birthday party in Denmark, we were invited to another birthday party and with that kind of advance notice, it’s impossible to say no. Even if it was right after Christmas.

So last Friday we took a bus to Denmark, and then drove to the north of Jylland the next day, several hours there and back, for my cousin Lise’s 60th.
A very sweet and joyful, much like her, celebration and also a reunion with family members I haven’t seen in decades.

Because the first part of the trip required to much traveling, we decided to stay a week and hang out, work remote, go for walks, feed cows and redecorate a living room.

We’ve been to Denmark in November, December and now January, and my mom is now fully expecting us back next month 😂

I feel super lucky that I have a partner who’s up for just chilling in the danish countryside so often, and this time he was rewarded with a handmade, portable guitar called a Leolin which my dad invented in the 80s or 90s, but which, despite being brilliant and having the support of some of the most beloved danish entertainers of that time, unfortunately never went into production.

And while my partner got an exclusive instrument, I scored some of my mom’s handmade ceramic lamps for our bedroom, AND she custom made me a pair of electric blue corduroy pants. Score 😎💙

I’ve been processing this year and crying all day so I don’t have a lot to say, I actually just felt like posting some Christmas, Slava and new years photos and that’s it.

We had dinner and although it’s my tradition to watch the lord of the rings on January 1st, I think we’ll treat ourselves to an early start and go ring in the new year in middle earth.

Sending love to everyone, especially my far away friends and loved ones, and everyone struggling.

Christmas in Denmark with my family ❤️
I’m not huge on Christmas but I am into quality time, food, walks in the woods and lighting a good fire 🥰

We’re back in Berlin for a quiet new years of eating potatoes and watching the lord of the rings trilogy (extended, obviously) on January first, the only new years tradition I have (and one that my partner has happily adopted)

Happy holidays, everyone. Might do a photo post tomorrow, if not, let me say now that I hope next year is better for all of us, both personally and collectively ❤️🙏🍉

My partner has been asking for a shelf in the kitc

My partner has been asking for a shelf in the kitchen above a heater we’ve never used, and for some reason I was reluctant even though what was there didn’t spark joy.
But after getting inspired by watching a lot of home renovation videos, I figured this was the least I could do so I went basement shopping for some wood (as you can see, there’s always shelf materials to be found down there!) and I put the brass hanging rack for sale on the local eBay.
The shelf took a few days to make because paint has to dry (ugh) but in the meantime I found a purpose for the rack I had put up for sale, so I took it offline again and turned it into pan storage next to the stove. Yay!
Both areas spark a lot of joy now and I even have room for another kitchen plant 😂 (totally not my main motivation for doing pretty much anything, nah)
The recycling bins have to stay, it’s a small kitchen and they gotta go somewhere but it looks less messy than before and we’re both pleased with another small improvement 🤍
